FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance is available to Texas to supplement state, tribal and local response efforts due to the emergency conditions from flooding beginning July 12, 2026. Maverick County is among the designated counties. Emergency protective measures (direct federal assistance) are provided at 75% federal funding.
Effective 3:00 p.m. July 16, 2026. Due to imminent flooding risk, all residents of the Quemado Valley and Normandy areas must evacuate immediately.
